Hungarian folk music
Hungarian folk music dates back to the 18th century, but it was not until the 19th century that it was popularised by the world-famous composer Ferenc Liszt. In today's terms, everything from the areas where ethnic Hungarians live is considered Hungarian music.
Hungarian folk music also plays an important role in Hungarian modern music. Hungarian music is characterised by peculiarities that distinguish it from other Central and Eastern European musical cultures (pentatonicism, dance rhythms). This music has also been significantly influenced by Gypsy music, which is often confused with Hungarian music.
Two folk songs Nosza hajdú and Kutya fikom teremtette are used in the composition Hungary. In addition, there are hints of music from the Transylvania region.
